Much of Australia looks like a nuclear bomb had been dropped. There is no precedent in history of such ferocious bush fires as are currently devastating this country. The enormity of the damage to the ecosystem is hard to estimate. Fortunately, most people get out alive even if they lose their properties. However, no words can express the misery of what by now must be close to a staggering billion of animals who perished and who still continue to perish in this inferno. The ones who manage to survive cannot find food or water and often are in desperate need of veterinary attention due to burns. Much assistance is needed to alleviate their suffering and deprivation of habitat.
